Galaxy Note 7 launch brings iris into mobile mainstream

Dr. Asem Othman, a lead biometric scientist on Hoyos Labs’ Computer Vision team, recently commented on Samsung’s latest “phablet,” the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung recently revealed the Note 7 will include iris scanning capabilities. While not the first device to do so, Samsung’s popularity will likely help push the technology into the mainstream. Dr. Othman noted that the iris biometric is likely to grow rapidly in popularity due to its high security and convenience.
